Dr.
Gregory Liszt’s futuristic banjo style incorporates
a novel four-fingered picking technique that turns the banjo into
a sophisticated rhythm instrument as well as a smooth soloing
tool. Greg very recently completed his Ph. D. in Biology at MIT,
where he researched the molecular and cellular basis of aging.
Greg
recently completed a 28-city tour of Europe and the US with Bruce
Springsteen as an integral member of Springsteen's critically-acclaimed
Seeger Sessions Band. As the banjo player in this group, Greg
has appeared on Good Morning America, The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Conan O'Brien,
and the BBC, as well as performing at the rock star's legendary
appearance at the 2006 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Greg has also performed extensively with the Wayfaring
Strangers, with whom he has appeared in concert with the prestigious
Boston POPS and the Utah Symphony Orchestra.
Greg
grew up in Charlottesville, VA, where he picked up the banjo in
high school after unsuccessfully attempting several more conventional
instruments. He currently resides in Boston, MA, where he has
recently attained notoriety for his unique style of banjo rapping.
